there is a trick-or-treat event every year at microsoft and it is pretty much the same every year. everyone buys a heap of candy and leaves it outside their office. at 3, the childless and/or sensitive employees can be seen furtively slipping out the exits as minivans arrive with spouses and children. at 3:30 your co-workers and their children are milling about and everyone is having a good time... but by 4, things take a turn for the worse. the people roaming the halls are no longer familiar. strange teenagers with questionable costumes and pillowsacks grab huge handfuls of candy, presumably to sell on the black market later. you are grateful for 5 when it arrives.
